As MJR held my Dad’s will we employed them to deal with probate, conveyancing and estate accounts. The loss of a loved one is alway going to be hard, MJR made it even harder. Their service was slow and sloppy from the start, we experienced numerous errors, failures to keep us properly and misinformation, to the point that we had to complain. That complaint was met with patronising arrogance by Mark Riley, nothing is ever their fault! We only agreed to continue with them because we were given the very misleading impression that they were nearly finished. That was a big mistake as it took them another 4 months of more errors and misinformation to claim they had finished, in fact they’d mess it up again! Needless to say we won’t be using this firm again.
As the process dragged on, it became clear that we weren’t being kept properly informed. This led us to formally complain about the lack of professionalism and attention to detail. Unfortunately, our complaint was met with what can only be described as patronizing arrogance from Mark Riley. Rather than taking responsibility for the mistakes and delays, we were met with a dismissive attitude, and it felt as though nothing was ever their fault. Despite our growing concerns, we were encouraged to continue with them because we were under the impression that they were nearing the completion of the process. This proved to be a significant misunderstanding, as it ultimately took them another four months, during which they made even more errors and continued to provide us with misleading information.
By the time they claimed they had finally completed the job, it was clear that they had mishandled many aspects of the case, and the whole process had to be revisited. We were left with the overwhelming sense that we had wasted valuable time and energy trusting a firm that failed to deliver on its promises. Needless to say, we will not be using this firm again for any future legal matters. The whole experience was disappointing and frustrating, and it’s something we would not want anyone else to endure.
